EmQM17 – The David Bohm Centennial Symposium

As the lead agency for the Fetzer Franklin Fund we are very proud to announce the EMQM17 Symposium in London this year.

On the occasion of David Bohm’s 100th birthday, a symposium on emergent quantum mechanics will be held at the University of London, Senate House, on October 26 – 28, 2017. This special issue features expert views that critically evaluate the prospects and significance – for 21st century physics – of ontological quantum mechanics, an approach which David Bohm helped pioneer. In original de Broglie-Bohm theory, the mathematical formalism refers to hypothetical ontic elements (e.g., John Bell’s “beables”) such as the quantum potential. In the 21st century, realist quantum approaches often distinguish between ψ-epistemic and ψ-ontic ontological quantum theories. Unlike ψ-ontic theories, the ψ-epistemic theories do not view the wave function ψ as a state of reality. Nevertheless, both types of approaches posit – again – the possibility of an ontological foundation for quantum mechanics.

About Emergent quantum mechanics (EmQM)

Emergent quantum mechanics (EmQM) is a research program that explores the possibility of an ontology for quantum mechanics. The resurgence of interest in realist approaches to quantum mechanics, including deterministic and indeterministic ones, challenges the standard textbook view. For example, standard “no-go” theorems against the possibility of realist, i.e., ontologically-grounded, quantum mechanics are increasingly recognized as falling short of their stated aim. Recent work also indicates that traditional assumptions and theorems such as nonlocality, contextuality, free choice, and non-signalling, need not necessarily contradict the existence of certain quantum ontologies.

However, if you free yourself from the European perspective you will be rewarded with an exceptional way of life. 1.3 million people from all over the world are constantly reinventing themselves and writing a history of their own. Welcome to the “Center of Now”! And as the top of the Burj Khalifa literally divides the clouds above us, we understand – this place is more real than the Berlin City Palace will ever be. 

MARRAKESH

For the cosmetics brand, “Dresdner Essenz”, the Berlin creativity agency secures the advertising budget of Li-iL GmbH. The family-operated enterprise, “Dresdner Essenz”, a manufacturer of over-the-counter medications and baths, is particularly known for its cosmetics products. A rigorous agency screening preceded the award of the comprehensive consulting contract, and kakoii won over three other competitors […]

For the cosmetics brand, “Dresdner Essenz”, the Berlin creativity agency secures the advertising budget of Li-iL GmbH. The family-operated enterprise, “Dresdner Essenz”, a manufacturer of over-the-counter medications and baths, is particularly known for its cosmetics products.

A rigorous agency screening preceded the award of the comprehensive consulting contract, and kakoii won over three other competitors to receive the job.

In the first phase, the agency will re-work the packaging design of the entire brand and its traditional cosmetics products. Putting the various product lines: “Wellness”, “Natürlich Gesund” (naturally healthy), and the children’s line “Dreckspatz” (little rascal) under one strong umbrella brand will notably strengthen future branding. This measure is coupled with classic advertising.

On the part of the agency, the relaunch is spearheaded by creative director, Thekla Heineke, who began her career as packaging designer at Shiseido in Japan. She is responsible for all of the packaging design services offered by kakoii from Berlin and another agency location in Japan.

The results of our cooperation will be tangible in the fall/winter 2013.

Through a several-month-long branding and design process with the friendly founders, we successfully defined the right place for Dr. Go in the highly competitive soft drink market.

The result was not only praised by consumers, but also by the design world. In addition to several others, the renowned on-line archive, Packaging of the World, has showcased our design in its gallery.
