To encourage civic engagement as well as donations, kakoii Berlin developed a nationwide awareness campaign for the Memorial for the Murdered Jews of Europe.

Client  
  Support organisation 'Memorial for the Murdered Jews of Europe'.'  
     
Objective  
  To raise awareness of the memorial project with a focal point on civic engagement. Fundraising for the furnishing of the Room of the Names in the documentation center.  
     
Period  
  July 2001 to December 2001  
     
Solution  
  With this campagin theme, kakoii created a communicative analogy to the memorial itself as a "disruptor" in the memory of the germans and breaks the idyllic scenery with the quote "the holocaust never happened ".  
     
Media  
 
- Giant 400 meter squared poster near the Berlin Brandenburge Gate, 3000 posters all over the country, 500,000 free cards, whole-page ads (ZEIT, Tagesspiegel).
- Press conference with the mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit and the chairman of the jewish community in Berlin, Dr. Alexander Brenner.
 
     
Results  
  Stirred up public discussion, wide resonance with the media (2500 articles in 6 weeks) as well as strong growth in donations for the support organisation.
